"I would definitely say it’s gonna die..."
Above you read a quote from fashion designer Virgil Abloh when asked about his idea of streetwear in 2020. In honor of that stupid ass statement made by Mr. Abloh we have decided to push an another one of our staple "Message Tees" with one final message for the year 2019.
This comment made by Virgil is one of the exact examples of paying attention we what we glorify as fans, supporters, haters, consumers, owners, etc. Virgil's current position of power would have never became remotely accessible if the culture didn't support him. That culture being streetwear.
Not only have we never identified with Virgil & anything he has ever created or touched, we still take offense to this sort of comment. With high fashion now tapping in with streetwear & smaller brands & collaboration being larger than ever these days, if anything streetwear has been rebirth & has projection to only be bigger & bigger.
When you create with the mentality of foundation, community, longevity, etc - your brand or ideas will never "die". Don't be jaded by anything YOU truly believe in. Things that make you standout, things that make you special. So to all my of our streetwear peers, continue to do what YOU are doing. Don't give a damn to what it looks like or sounds like. You control your place & history in this game & always remember your worth.
As offended as we took this statement we also can't relate in the same breath. We always saw ourselves as an elevated version of streetwear, not as in we are better or greater but we definitely want to hold a respect that doesn't just categorize us. So ourselves & other extended family brands created our own category...Rarewear.
With that being said s/o to Virgil for showing us you never cared about us & how fucked up you actually had us. We will continue to eat without you, thanks for nothing.
